The golf specific panelling in 2XU’s Elite Golf Compression Top sets the new benchmark in golf performance garments. The contrasting PWX fabric panels are designed to “switch on” the golf muscles and heighten awareness to encourage a ‘taller’ more neutral spinal alignment which is the foundation for improving dynamic power and improved technique.

Through greater core control, stronger ground force is gained for more power, balance and a ballistic swing. Enhanced dynamics in the transition from backswing to downswing is gained to maximize impact smash factor.

Correct spinal alignment reduces the shearing forces in the joints and ligaments experienced from dynamic rotation, to better reduce golf hotspot injuries. Daffodil Days 2012 will be launched during the 2XU Compression Run where Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Environment and Water Resources, is the Guest-of-Honour. Dr Balakrishnan will flag off the 10 km and 15 km competitive races and will join the beneficiaries of SCS and their families in the 2 km walk.

Local celebrities attending the event will include Ms Jade Seah and Ms Tara Rushton. Ms Jade Seah, who recently signed up as a SCS Charity Athlete, will also be running the 10 km Competitive Race as part of her Charity Athlete programme.
Said Mr Choo Eng Chuan, Chairman of SCS, “With cancer being the cause of one in every four deaths in Singapore, there is a good chance that everyone’s life will be touched by this disease at some point in time. Through Daffodil Days, we want to reach out to cancer patients and their caregivers to tell them that they are not alone in their battle against this disease. We want to give hope to and celebrate hope with those impacted by cancer and we want to remember the courage of those who have lost their fight.”

Daffodil Days is also a platform where SCS reaches out to the community to promote general cancer awareness. Said Mr Choo, “We would like to see more people being involved in supporting Daffodil Days and have produced a handbook to help individuals and companies celebrate hope and raise funds for the cancer cause.”

The handbook is available on the Daffodil Days microsite www.DaffodilDays.sg. Through the microsite, the online community can also share cancer stories and dedicate daffodils to their loved ones via a specially developed app as well as download cancer information and purchase daffodil merchandise.

2XU Compression Run/Charity Athlete Programme

Daffodil Days is supported by the 2XU Compression Run which features some 10,000 competitive runners. Among them is Ms Jade Seah, a popular local artiste and newly-enrolled SCS Charity Athlete who will be running her first charity run. Jade, who has set up her fund-raising page on the Simply Giving donation portal, said, “I love to run and being a SCS Charity Athlete gives me the opportunity to pursue my passion while raising funds for a worthy cause. Cancer is close to my heart because I have lost friends and relatives to this disease, and my mother herself is a nurse at a cancer centre.”

Needing to carry their cell phones, car-keys, energy bars and gels on their long pre-marathon training runs and the gym—they tried every type of carrying device known—hip-packs, back packs, belts, multi-pocket running shirts and shorts. 1. What makes the Armpocket better?

2. What do mean when you say Armpockets are “Eco-Friendly”?

A: We, at Armpocket, have gone to great lengths to make the Armpocket as “green” and eco-friendly as possible. In fact, the main fabric used in the construction of every Armpocket is 100% post-consumer recycled PET materials made from plastic bottles. Similarly, we use natural bamboo rayon instead of manufactured synthetic wicking materials. 3. Is it water and sweat resistant?

I’ve lost 2 cell-phones and an iPodTM to sweat…

A: Yes. Armpockets are engineered by runners– for runners. Each Armpocket is made of water resistant PET fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. Plus, we added an extra layer of waterproof material between the back of the Armpocket and the storage compartment so your valuable electronic devices remain protected from any moisture damage. Likewise, we’ve added ultra-comfortable, moisture wicking bamboo rayon fabric along the back and strap edges so your arm and your electronics stay cool and dry.

4. What is the difference between the XTREME 30, SPORT 20, and AERO 10

A: The difference is storage capacity and size:

The XTREME i-30 is our largest model with 30 cubic inches of storage. Typically, you can carry larger electronic devices like the iPhone TM (all models) , Blackberry TM , Droid X TM and EVO TM, along with a set of keys and a couple of gel packs. The standard cases and battery packs for smart phones will fit in this Armpocket.

The SPORT i-20 is our medium size model with 20 inches of storage. This equates to holding an iPhoneTM (all models),  BlackberryTM, DroidTMor other mid-sized smart phone along with your MP-3 player, ID/credit cards, car key and a couple of gel packs. The smaller cases and battery packs for smart phones will fit in this Armpocket.

The SPORT 20 with a front pocket also allows for 20 cubic inches of storage.  The dimensions are slightly different from the i-20, allowing you to carry wider and shorter phones (up to 4.5″ long and 3.5″ wide). As this model does not have a touch-thru window, you can discretely carry any items and phones.

The AERO i-10 is our most compact and streamlined Armpocket with 10 cubic inches of storage. You can still comfortably carry a smart phone, MP-3, key, ID and a couple of gel packs.

5. I’m new to running. which Armpocket do you recommend?

A: We would recommend the SPORT i-20, which is specifically designed for runners who want easy-access to both their music and cell phone. The touch sensitive window allows you to change music while “on the move: without the need to stop and remove the player. You can select that special “power song” when facing the big hill, or finish strong across the finish line. Likewise, if you can’t afford to miss that important call or message, you can easily pull out the phone with the easy-pull double zippers in the pcoket, specifically designed for immediate cell-phone access. Most importantly, the SPORT i-20 comes with high-visibilty, reflective safety piping that allows others to see you if you run in the early morning or after dark. This model is available with a medium strap (fits most people) or a small strap (recommended for arm size 8″ to 10″). If your arm size is 11″ – you can chose either the small or medium strap, depending on how much flexibility you need (additional layer of clothes etc.).

6. Will it slip like all the other elastic arm-bands I’ve tried?

A: No. The Armpocket has been designed for runners — by runners. Our patent pending V-strap™ design ensures that the Armpocket stays securely on your arm. For best results, position the Armpocket between the shoulder (deltoid) muscle and upper arm (bicep) muscle, and pull the strap comfortably tight. As you exercise and your body generates heat, the memory foam will mold itself to the natural contours of your arrm. This, along with the vented strap, lined with naturally moisture-wicking bamboo will keep your arm comfortable, dry, and cool – and your Armpocket securely in place.

Moreover, one of our customers have thoroughly tested the Armpocket– latest at the Ft. Lauderdale A1A Half Marathon. She happily reported her Armpocket did not slip– in fact she didn’t notice it at all during the entire race. “Most comfortable arm-band, I’ve ever worn!”

7. Are Armpockets machine washable ?

A. Yes. The Armpocket can be washed using a cold, delicate machine wash program. If your Armpocket has reflective piping, we recommend hand-wash only, and line dry out of direct sun. This will also extend the life of the water-proof interior lining. The reflective material will pre-maturely deteriorate if placed in a washing machine.

Ideal Heel | Promotes proper alignment and reduces lever arms

The Ideal Heel is an innovation that shifts the ground contact point forward. The runner lands with more ground clearance right under the middle of the heel rather than on an edge behind the center of the heel. This lets force vectors travel closer to joint centers and decreases lever arms and moments, leading to reduced internal stress and enhanced
performance.

Landing more forward and reducing the lever arm also provides a smoother transition for the runner as they spend 10% less time in the braking phase wearing PureProject™ shoes. We also found that the shoes were able to shift the landing zone forward by 3cm, which is very similar to where runners hit the ground in the barefoot running condition. This encourages the foot to land under the body’s center of mass creating alignment of force vectors through the ankle, knee and hip joints.

Toe Flex | Enhances feel and creates a more efficient push-off

The PureProject™ shoes are approximately 25–30% more flexible when compared to a
standard running shoe. Omega Grooves and strategic removal of the midsole (Toe Flex)
has allowed for this increased flexibility. The Toe Flex is designed to better isolate the
first ray (big toe) empowering it to help the
foot resupinate, creating a more efficient and
aligned toe-off.

Nav Band | Creates a dynamic fit

The Nav Band is designed to enhance the fit and feel of the shoe. This elastic band will accommodate different foot shapes and create a comfortable, assured arch fit for the runner.

Anatomical Last | Works more efficiently with your foot

A new anatomical last was created for the PureProject™ shoes. The last mimics the
shape of the foot and is visually apparent. The shoe is longest at the big toe and tapers
down to the smallest toe. This new last gets down to basics and minimizes the use of
material to enhance the feel of the run. Matching the runner’s anatomy will provide a
more natural and comfortable fit, and allow the shoe and foot to work as a single unit.

BioMoGo DNA | Responds to your individual needs

BioMoGo DNA is a blended version of Brooks BioMoGo and Brooks® DNA technologies
giving the entire midsole adaptive properties. With each foot strike, the BioMoGo DNA
tunes the cushioning and responsiveness to the specific needs of each and every runner.
Testing in a lab, the cushioning and loading rate of the PureProject™ shoes were 5-10%
greater then a standard running shoe. This is an ideal scenario, a low profile shoe that
provides better cushioning and comfort than a standard running shoe.

In the lab, lower profile PureProject™ shoes deliver the same energy return as thicker
standard shoes. Another great example of how BioMoGo DNA does more with less.

BioMogo DNA reduces layers in the midsole as there are no drop-ins, allowing the
runner to feel more and have more ground contact. This approach also leads to better
sustainability in the PureProject shoes by reducing parts and processes.
